This is one of my first mandala style drawing that attempts to portray real structures: gears, wheels, motors, armatures, discs, turbines and machines surfaces. Today, this drawing can fall into the Steampunk category, although that term did not yet exist when I created this drawing. The primary structure is based on a roto-inverted two-fold symmetry axis. I am inspired by the amazing graphic quality of old lithographs of locomotive trains and mining equipment from the 1800s and I have borrowed from such designs to create this drawing.
