Crustacean
Crustacean is a mechanical improvisation drawing based on the idea of a robotic sea-creature. The type of creature I had in mind when creating the drawing was a Nudibranch, a type of sea slug, or a Chambered Nautilus. The creature is mechanical and autonomous. It is propelled by means of a track system similar to a tank or armored fighting vehicle. This creature is portrayed in a side view with the front facing left. In front are the sensing mechanisms, antennae and feeding proboscis. Running left to right across the structure are conveyor belts with rollers. In the center, gears, flywheels and centrifugal governors are shown which serve as the thought center for the creature. At the top, a shell-like structure protects the forecastle. Crustacean is the predecessor drawing for another mechanical improvisation drawing called Chronos.
